Many of our lifeguards are returning, with most having been with us for 3-4 years!

Pool Concierge & Rules:
We will continue to monitor counts at the pool to ensure everyone can enjoy the pool area safely.   While guests are allowed, (no more than 4 guests per family - more than 4 guests will need approval from the office) we ask that you limit guests on weekends, and you check in with the concierge upon arrival.   Guest fees remain $10 per person for the day.   If we find that the pool is becoming too crowded we will have to re-assess the guest policy - safety is our main concern.   The pool rules & regulations will be posted at the entrance to the pool.

While at the pool area, please remember that your kids are your responsibility, and we ask that you keep an eye on your kids at all times.   That means listening to the lifeguards, using appropriate language, being respectful to others and no running around the pool deck.   We have a great team of lifeguards this year. Their responsibility is to be alert and attentive to those members and guests who are in the pools and around the immediate pool decks – they are not babysitters.  This bears repeating… they are not babysitters.   Please have a discussion with your kids on the importance of following these rules.

Pool dress code.   We are a family club and ask that bathing suits are tasteful and NO THONGS.   I cannot emphasize this enough.   Anyone who is dressed inappropriately at the pool will be asked to change or cover up.  Please share this information with family and friends before heading out to the pool.   Also note that bathing suits are not allowed in the clubhouse, on the courts, the range or golf course.

While we try hard not to close the pool, there are times when it becomes necessary due to inclement weather.   We will send an email to the membership and post on the main page of the member website any pool closings due to weather.   As thunderstorms often pop up quickly, or if the weather looks suspect, call the office at 508-435-4630 for the pool schedule that day.   You can also reach the Pool Concierge at ext. 326 during pool hours.

There are two pools available for use; a kiddie pool for those just getting started (ages 5 and below) and an older child/adult heated pool.  Please remember that to use the older child/adult pool kids must be toilet trained or wear approved "Little Swimmers" that are specially designed for that purpose.   You can purchase the approved “Little Swimmers” at the snack bar.  Absolutely no regular diapers in any of the pools.  Remember to bring your own towels as the club does not provide them.

Pool Lost & Found:
We often find many items left behind.  Our policy this year will be to clean out the lost and found area on the 1st and 15th of each month.   Lost and found box is located behind the check-in desk as you enter.  We will donate what we can and throw away the rest.  We do not have the space to keep all items in lost and found all season.   I would suggest you label items that you bring to the pool.

Pool Programs, Swim Team & Lessons:
The following is a guide to our summer pool program offerings.  This information will be posted by the pool entrance and the pool concierge can provide you with any updated information.  We like to make the pool program offerings simple, yet flexible for the membership.

LITTLE GUPPIESS - FOR THE YOUNGER CHILDREN (3-5)
Starting on Monday, June 17th, Monday-Friday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.  There is no Little Guppies the week of July 1st due to the holiday.  This program offers swim lessons, pool safety, arts and crafts, snack time, pool games, and board/card/lawn games.  This is a wonderful way to get the younger kids started with HCC camps.  Please note that all campers must be 100% potty trained – no exceptions.  Please register Little Guppies through Sam Dupont at [email protected].  We will release more detailed information to those who have registered prior to the start of the program.   We are limiting the size of the Little Guppies program this year so signup ASAP.   We need at least three kids enrolled in order to host the camp.

SWIM TEAM (6 and under through 16 years of age)
The Hopkinton Country Club Blue Dolphins is a recreational level swim team, and the coaching staff strongly encourages children to acquire the basic fundamentals of swimming technique and pool safety with swimming lessons.  Your child should be able to swim any competitive swimming strokes for 25 yards (one pool length).   Swim lessons are encouraged and would greatly enhance your child’s progress with the team.

Regular practice runs from 8:00-9:00 AM Monday-Friday.  Children in camps will get out at 8:45.  Six and under will go for 30-45 mins starting at 8:00 am.   REGULAR PRACTICE STARTS THURSDAY, JUNE 20TH and runs through August 9th. We plan on offering two afternoon practices during the week – stay tuned for more details.  Pre-season practice will start on June 3rd from 8:00 – 9:00 am with the lifeguards.

What’s it all about?  The HCC swim team is a summer recreational league team based out of the HCC pool. Corey and his staff of experienced swimmers/coaches/teachers are the coaches.  We train to compete while having fun and learning how to improve our swimming technique, speed and endurance.  Swim team meets are very well attended by parents and friends. Come on down to watch the excitement and cheer on the Blue Dolphins.   The cost for joining the swim team is very reasonable:

 First Child - $100      Second Child - $75      Third/Fourth Child - $50

Who can join and team awards:  Any member of HCC between the ages of 4 and 16 can join the swim team.   Your child should be ready for swim team in that they are not afraid of the water and will not have to be “pushed” in order to start practice.   We have a great swim team event at the end of the season.

What/when are the swim meets?  Swim meets are a chance for swimmers to showcase the stroke techniques they've practiced and work on lowering times by racing other swimmers.  The 6 & under swimmers race 12.5 yards (half a pool length) and compete in backstroke and freestyle. The 7-8 and 9-10 year olds have the opportunity to compete in all strokes and swim 25 yard races.  The 11 & up swimmers compete in 50 yard races - having the chance to swim every stroke and the individual medley in which the swimmer swims all four strokes in the same race, which is both challenging and fun!
Meets are typically held on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 (for warm up) and 5:30 for the start of competition.   During the meets, the pool is closed for about an hour.  Members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the Dolphins!  Weather dates will be Thursday at the same time.  We are actively looking for other clubs and teams to join the fun.   We will send out the Swim Team Meet schedule once we have heard back from the other clubs.  If we cannot find any outside teams to participate we will still have a swim team and host competitive meets internally!

If you have any further questions about the swim team, please don't hesitate to ask a lifeguard or contact Corey at [email protected]

SWIM LESSONS:
Private swimming lessons are available for any age and ability level.  Private lessons can be structured around your other activities.  If you have any questions or wish to schedule lessons, please email [email protected] or see an instructor/coach to set up days and time.  As some of our guards are finishing up school in the next few weeks, it may take a little longer to respond so please be patient.   Once the pool opens, we will be able to respond quicker.

Coach Corey - $80 for 1 hour, $40 per ½ hour.
Swim Team Members - $50 for 1 hour, $25 per ½ hour.
Private ½ hour with pool staff $35, semi-private $30 each.

A teaching staff roster with teaching specialties and contact information will be posted by the pool entrance for your convenience.

We will be releasing additional information throughout the season on other swim/pool related activities so be on the lookout.  Looking forward to another wonderful summer at the HCC pool!
